Lars Abelsen

Lars Abelsen is a Greenlandic Inuk from Sisimiut on the west coast of Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat). He studied in Aasiaat in northern Greenland, with a focus on the natural sciences, before continuing his academic work in Nuuk at the University of Greenland (Ilisimatusarfik).

Lars earned a bachelor’s degree in Cultural and Social History, developing a strong foundation in Arctic culture, community and regional heritage. He now lives in Qeqertarsuaq on Disko Island with his wife and son.

In addition to his academic and cultural background, Lars has represented Greenland in Taekwon-Do as a member of the national team, competing in major international tournaments including the European and World Championships.

As a Cultural Specialist, Lars brings insight into Greenlandic life, history and Arctic traditions, supporting meaningful engagement with the region and its communities.
