Ruben Calderon

Ruben’s relocation to the Galápagos Islands occurred at the age of two, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in his life. During their leisure time, his family introduced him to the archipelago, and his father instilled in him the skills necessary for snorkeling. This experience provided him a whole new perspective, subsequently inspiring his decision to pursue a degree in Biology at the University of Guayaquil. Concurrently with his academic studies, he engaged in an internship with the Galapagos National Park working in the Sea Turtle Nesting Program and Coral Restoration Program, fostering a deeper understanding for the islands he had inhabited since childhood.

Upon completion of his degree, he returned to the islands to apply his knowledge and experience at the Charles Darwin Research Station. With Ruben’s extensive knowledge and passion for Galapagos, he transitioned from the Charles Darwin Foundation to become a Naturalist Guide. In this role, Ruben aspired to instill in guests the passion and appreciation of the archipelago that his family had instilled in him.
