Sara Rosado
Born in Milagro, and one of five children, Sara grew up in various Ecuadorian towns including the Galapagos Islands where her father was a pastor. She arrived to the Galapagos in 1968 and left the island with the best memories of her childhood. Sara obtained her degree in biology from Velasco Ibarra College in Milagro, followed shortly by an English course from Benedict school of Guayaquil. When she returned, suddenly she was bewitched by The Enchanted Islands and became a Naturalist Guide working for the Galápagos National Park in 1991.
Over the years she has led countless groups in the islands, interpreting the unusual natural history of the archipelago for visitors. She completed a Tourism and Recreation Areas Technologist degree at the University of Guayaquil in 2003, which was based on her interpretation work. She is fluent in Spanish and English, and her views for the future are to contribute actively towards the conservation of the Galapagos. Sara has two children and a husband who also works on one of the tourism vessels as Captain. She lives part time in Guayaquil and part time on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos.
