After sailing during part of yesterday afternoon and night, we woke up early this morning to explore before breakfast the Belluda Creek by skiff. The mornings fresh air was full of sounds, and the tops of the trees was full of active birds. Particularly interesting were a group of noisy red-bellied macaws, probably catching up on the previous days gossip.
For the late afternoon we repositioned the Delfin II to explore by night the Dorado River. Late in the day we could observe how most of the birds started to fly to their particular dormitory trees to spend the night, and how some of them would hurry up to catch a late meal before that.
We had great views of some of these birds, such as the large lineated woodpecker that worked on making a hole on the hollow cecropia tree for a meal of juice ant larvae.
And we caught a view of a small striated heron as it flew very close to our skiff on its way home.
