A dense fog covered Bahia Magdalena this morning, but nothing stopped us from enjoying a wonderful day in this little piece of heaven. In this solitude (the northern entrance is called Mouth of Solitude), or soledad in Spanish, the waters were calm with expressions of life everywhere: whales, seabirds, fishes, coyotes, and more.

When we focused on the little things we realized that those details completed a full map of reasons to feel gratitude, to feel joy, to feel energy and continue living this wonderful life. This day brought us new experiences, unforgettable memories, by watching gray whale mothers teaching their calves how to live. A reminder to us all that there are always wonderful opportunities to learn more from those around us.

Watching these baby whales playing like puppies right next to our expedition landing crafts—rolling around, showing their bellies, awaiting for hands to give them a scratch, waiting to connect with us guests and staff—it was just the silent call that we all may need for their preservation. It made us all much more aware that their lives depend entirely on us; the way we use water; the way we recycle, the way we live. This was the message of today: each action we take will either preserve or destroy Mother Nature. Let us choose to preserve her.
