Southbound! Our first day in the infamous Drake Passage was an easy one with light winds and a long, low residual swell rolling through. Albatross and petrels came and went throughout the day, catching the winds that rose up off the sides of the ship and then continuing on their way, gliding from one wave crest to another. We spent a comfortable day settling into our cabins, exploring the ship, and enjoying presentations on photography, seabirds, and marine mammal research.
