Manuel Antonio National Park
Our day began early in order to pack in all the fun Manuel Antonio National Park has to offer. Adventurous guests chose the “tropical stair-master hike”, which took them through forests and steep climbs that were rewarded by scenic ocean views of one of the most popular national parks in Costa Rica. Endemic to Costa Rica and Western Panama, the fiery-billed Araucaria was the first of some fantastic wildlife sightings. Also spotted were the double-toothed kite and laughing falcon. Spotting White-faced Capuchin monkeys and agouti rounded out our adventure for the longest of the two morning hikes. Guests that chose the less challenging sloth valley walk were equally rewarded with sightings of the three-toed and two-toed sloth, as well as monkeys.
Afternoon activities were more free form, shuttles returning to Espadilla beach for refreshing swims, boogie-boarding or strolls along the long sandy shore. Shoppers wandered into the close-by town for a last opportunity to purchase souvenirs or check out a local lunch place. Visiting with newly made friends over a refreshing libation on the top deck with the warm tropical breeze was also a popular choice for our final afternoon together. Before heading down to the lounge for happy hour, Pantropical spotted dolphins graced us with a close up look as the National Geographic Sea Lion departed from Manual Antonio.
