Bartolome and Santiago Islands
Early in the morning, many of our guests gathered at the reception, eager to start a walk to the top of Bartolome. And we conquered our goal! After 372 steps, we got to admire one of the very best views in the Galápagos, the famous pinnacle with its mangrove area in between two crescent golden beaches. From the highest elevation of the island, we could already see that the snorkeling was going to be amazing. And indeed it was - lots of fish and even a few penguins joined in.
In the afternoon, several of the kids joined the crew playing soccer. Ecuador is in the world cup, and our players on board gave all their energy as if this had been a world game. Many played and swam and snorkeled from the black beach of Santiago. At four we started our last walk in the Galápagos, and it was as if all the animals had come to say good bye: yellow warblers, iguanas, sea lions, fur seals, pelicans, blue-footed boobies, mockingbirds and the spectacular scenery of lava and tuff. A great ending for an amazing week!
