We awoke at anchor as strings of cormorants passed by on their commute from roosting areas to feeding sites. After breakfast we strode across sand dunes etched by the wind to reach the Pacific and a stunning beach. Once back on board, the ship maneuvered through a narrow waterway where we spotted bottlenose dolphins, wading birds, and our first gray whales of the voyage.
