A day on board Delfin II in the Upper Amazon is a thrilling immersion into the heart of the jungle, and today we explored Nauta Creek and Yarapa. As we drifted through the winding waters, the surrounding rainforest came alive with the vibrant sounds of wildlife. Our skiff glided silently through the water, revealing glimpses of colorful birds perched on branches and playful river dolphins swimming nearby. Along the riverbanks, the dense foliage offered hiding spots for countless species of monkeys.
Later, we ventured into the narrower creeks, where the jungle felt even more intimate. The air was thick with the scent of wet earth, and the light filtered through the towering trees, casting shadows on the water below. We spotted sloths lazily clinging to branches, their slow movements a reminder of the unhurried pace of life in the Amazon. Our guide shared fascinating details about the delicate ecosystem, explaining how the Pacaya Samiria Reserve helps protect this extraordinary habitat.
As the day drew to a close, we returned to Delfin II, enriched by the experience of exploring some of the most pristine and diverse environments on earth.
