Our cool morning turned into a brilliant sunny day as we began our Zodiac rides about four miles up the spectacular Palouse River Canyon. Combined with rotating trips to 200-foot-high Palouse Falls, we were able to see first-hand the enormity of just what may be the most spectacular of all ice age flood features in Washington.
Our afternoon was spent cruising the rugged Snake River canyon, which included transiting the locks at Little Goose and Lower Granite Dams. We had a pleasant lock party on the bow and enjoyed our afternoon of taking photos and viewing the bare brown hills, some of which are 2,000 feet higher than our location on the river.
After covering eighty miles on the Snake River, we arrived at our destination of Clarkston, Washington in the early evening.
