Today we explored the beautiful islands of Santiago and Bartolome. In the morning, we had a pre-breakfast outing to the lava field of Sullivan Bay. This is a pahoehoe lava flow where one can experience how the first islands once looked. The hike took us through beautiful basaltic formations all the way to a cinder cone. Part of the group went on a Zodiac exploration of the bay in search of the Galapagos penguins. They were found posing on a rock for us!

In the afternoon we went snorkeling off the beach that is found at the base of Pinnacle Rock. Here we found sharks, sea lions, and the Galapagos penguins!

To finish the day, we hiked to the top of the volcano of Bartolome to watch the sunset on a partially rainy afternoon.
