We are having a great time aboard the National Geographic Islander. We’ve visited several islands and we are still impressed by the beauty of every place on which we set foot.

This morning we are anchored close to South Plaza Island, near Santa Cruz. This small island is teeming with life of all kinds. Our first impression was a group of baby sea lions paying on the shore. Minutes later we spotted land iguanas climbing bushes and eating their leaves. Here we also found a colony of swallow-tailed gulls and some tropicbirds nesting on the rocky cliffs. We’ve had plenty of rain on the islands and all of the plants are blooming, therefore land birds are seen all around us.

In the afternoon we anchored off Santa Fe Island. We explored this place form kayaks and with snorkeling gear. We had a lot of fun at the snorkeling site because we snorkeled with sea lions and sea turtles! There were many more things to see, including a school of yellow-fin surgeonfish, which is known to exist in the Galapagos Islands but our team had never recorded it before! There is always something new in this paradise.

I can’t wait for more!
