Early this morning we went to explore the entrance of the little creek near our anchoring spot. During this pre-breakfast activity, we enjoyed the sounds of the rainforest and caught a glimpse of some real early birds, like parrots, macaws and herons. Maybe the most tantalizing sight was a wooly monkey having breakfast on some leaves, way before any of us!

After our return to Delfin II, we were ready to navigate to our breakfast spot up the river! Along the way, we saw an incredible number of monkey species: howler, monk, squirrel, wooly, among others. We were also lucky to spot a couple of green-and-yellow macaws flying back and forth to the same feeding spot, even with a hawk lurking about! And then finally, we had our breakfast on the easy flow of the Yarapa.

On our return trip, we had the pleasure of learning about local medicinal plants from one of our local guides, whose father and grandfather were both shamans. Although he eventually decided to become a naturalist guide, he is still carrying all the knowledge inherited from his ancestors. His lecture inspired some guests to learn more about medicinal plants and natural healing.

After a delicious lunch, we had an invigorating dip in Amazonian waters. Some of us also snuck in another outing on skiffs or kayaks before the rain closed out the afternoon. Those staying until the end were rewarded with the sighting of a three-toed sloth!

On our last evening aboard Delfin II, we learned how to make Pisco cocktails and watched a slide show with our best pictures of the week, a perfect ending to our adventure in the Amazon.
