Our first full day of exploration on our expedition in the Upper Amazon took us to two amazing destinations: Clavero Lake in the morning, and Supay River in the afternoon.

Just after breakfast we visited Clavero Lake, first taking a skiff ride around the lake and then going inside a smaller stream, Bagazan Caño. As we entered the lake at the beginning of our ride, we had a delightful sighting of several Amazon bird species, including kingfishers, birds of prey, cormorants, egrets, herons, and many others. Today we had a beautiful shiny day for photography, with many opportunities to capture memories of these birds in our pictures.

In the afternoon our home-away-from-home for this week, the Delfin II, was repositioned to Supay Caño. We spent a couple of hours exploring the surroundings; in this location we found many more neotropical bird species and a couple troops of squirrel monkeys as well.
