After crossing the Panama Canal and explore part of the bay we arrived into one of the most important national park of Panama, Coiba. This national park is considered a jewel of the Pacific Ocean of Panama for its beautiful beaches and large extension of coral reef.

For many years it was known as a sustainable jail where prisoners paid their sentences away from Panamanian society.

Today Coiba is part of a very important marine corridor of the Tropical Eastern Pacific, and is part of the migratory route of the humpback whales, which every year moves from the Antarctic to those areas for their birth and reproduction. Coiba has beautiful beaches, and a great biodiversity of flora and fauna.

Today we had the opportunity onboard the National Geographic Sea Lion to explore and enjoy Rancheria Island.  We had the opportunity to do kayak, natures walk and paddleboards.  At mid-day we reposition our vessel to a different destination inside of the park known as Granito de Oro.  We had a great afternoon snorkeling around this gorgeous islet.
