Early this morning we had the chance to navigate during daylight along the border of Costa Rica and Panama. This was a great experience for all guests on board National Geographic Sea Lion. As a part of this amazing experience for all of us, we had the opportunity to enjoy “Isla Ladrones” from the distance. This island has a splendid brown booby colony and, while we were there, we witnessed a feeding frenzy of these beautiful birds.

After watching this marvelous event, we got back on track and continued our route to Golfo Dulce.

It was 3:00 p.m. and we got the kayaks and our expedition landing crafts ready to go. The first to disembark were the kayakers, ready to paddle in between the mangrove forest, an amazing ecosystem that was about to be discovered by our guests.

Next to get ready were our photographers, who got in the line to go exploring. As a photo expedition we always try to maximize the photo opportunities to our guest and there was no better place to spend the afternoon than the Tigre River.

Amazing landscapes, egrets, herons, roseate spoonbills, white ibis, two-toed sloths, and common potoo, among many others, gave all of our photographers and nature-lovers one of the best days so far on our expedition.

Finally it was time for all of us to gather aboard National Geographic Sea Lion and enjoy our social hour and recap session. It was a great moment for all of us to share this amazing day’s experiences.
