Our first full day aboard Sea Cloud II was all about sails, sunshine, and getting to know one another. We started the morning at sea with a breezy introduction to the ship’s sail plan from our Chief Officer — complete with tales of square sails and the hopeful promise of climbing 45 feet into the rigging (for those bold enough to pass their physicals!). By the afternoon we arrived in Hvar, where stone streets shimmered in the sun and lavender-scented breezes welcomed us ashore. We wandered through narrow alleys, explored the elegant main square, peeked into the cathedral, and enjoyed a few scoops of local gelato. Some guests tackled the high-point challenge, hiking to the Spanish Fort for sweeping views over red-tiled rooftops and the Adriatic below.
Back aboard, we gathered for our first evening recap with the expedition staff, previewing the journey ahead and reflecting on an incredible day in Croatia.
