Tiphanie May
Tiphanie May is a marine biologist from the Falkland Islands and an eighth-generation Falkland Islander. Raised on her family’s island, she grew up around boats and coastal wildlife, developing an early familiarity with the marine environment that has shaped her career.
Tiphanie holds a master’s degree in Marine Biology and began her professional work at sea at age 21, serving aboard Spanish trawlers with the Falkland Islands Government in fisheries research and protection. Spending much of the year offshore, she gained extensive experience in marine fieldwork and later managed an inshore boating project.
Today, Tiphanie guides in both the Arctic and Antarctic, bringing a strong foundation in polar marine ecosystems and wildlife observation. As a naturalist, she values helping guests engage with polar wildlife, seabirds and the changing conditions of high-latitude regions. She is also a certified first responder and trained firefighter, contributing practical leadership and safety awareness in remote environments.
Outside of expedition work, Tiphanie continues to support marine conservation efforts, including marine mammal observation and habitat restoration, and occasionally works on her family’s farm.
